Installing meter.me just got easier!
Because meter.me serves customers with rural water systems, installation of meter.me devices often takes place in areas without cellular or WiFi coverage. In these situations, meter.me offers an alternative: install over the IoT network itself. This process uses the mote's LoRaWAN signal to transmit the data necessary to complete the installation and get your equipment online.
When to use install over IoT
If you have a strong cellular or Wi-Fi signal on the phone you are using to complete the installation, use that— it's the quickest and most reliable way to complete the installation! However, installing over IoT is a great alternative when no adequate LTE or WiFi signal is available.

How to install over IoT
- Confirm meter.base coverage at the install site. This means you will need to install your meter.base first, before heading out of Cellular or WiFi coverage.
- Log in to the meter.me Installer app
- If needed, create the organization and system where you will be installing your component before heading out of Cellular or WiFi coverage.
- Once you are ready to install, select Add Components and complete the checklist as usual.
- If a red banner indicates no internet, enable Use IoT Network above it. Complete your installation as usual.
***Please note that submitting an installation over IoT will take a little longer than it usually does when using a cellular or WiFi Connection. Please expect 1-2 minutes for the install details to be submitted and saved.
