This article will walk you through the steps to do the initial setup for your meter.base Lite.
First, review the package contents. Here is what your meter.base Lite package should contain:
-
- meter.base Lite (Mikrotik WAP LR9 kit)
- Desktop stand
- Wall or Pole mount kit
- POE adaptor
- 6ft ethernet cable
- Power adaptor
Installation choices
The meter.base Lite offers three installation options:
1. Wifi connection (requires ethernet connection during initial configuration)
2. Ethernet connection (within 6ft of your router) - Start by following the first 6 steps of the Wifi Connection setup
3. Ethernet connection (more than 6ft from your router)
Option 1: Wifi Connection setup
1. Open the lid: Remove the lower hatch to expose the wiring ports in the device
3. Connect the cables: Thread the ethernet and power cables up through the bottom of the base and into the device ports
4. Connect to ethernet and power: First, connect the other end of the ethernet cable to a LAN port in your internet router. Then, plug in the power cord to power the device.
5. Confirm connection:
-
- The LED below the power input should be solid green (faint)
- The LED top left of the ethernet port should be solid green (ethernet connection established)
- The LED top right of the ethernet port should be blinking amber (activity over ethernet port)
6. Using the meter.manage app, configure your meter.base
a. Log into the installer app and navigate to the water system where you'd like to add the meter.base
b. Select Add > Add meter.base
d. Enter the name of the meter.base and set the location
e. Scan the QR code on your meter.base
f. Select Set up meter.base
g. Select your primary network (WiFi or Ethernet)
h. Select Refresh to check your connection
>>If connecting via Ethernet cable, skip to Ethernet connection setup.
i. Select your WiFi network from the available list and enter the password, then select Join
7. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and select Refresh - wait for the device to reconnect via wifi (this can take up to one minute, so you may need to select Refresh again if it fails the first time). The app will tell you when you're all set!
8. Punch out the circle to allow the power cord to exit the device; Replace the lower cap and secure by screwing in the attached screw
10. Place device into base or use the included mounting plate to mount it on a wall or post.
You will want your meter.base to be raised as much as possible (on a cabinet or desk is better than on the floor) and as free from obstructions as possible (closing it inside a cabinet will reduce the coverage radius). Your meter.base is ready to go!
