Installation choices
The meter.base Lite offers three installation options. Select your preferred installation option to view the instructions for that particular setup.
1. Wifi connection
a. Configure WiFi by connecting meter.base to your phone (using the provided Ethernet -> USB-C cable)
OR
b. Configure WiFi by connecting meter.base to your router (using the provided Ethernet cable)
2. Ethernet connection
b. More than 6ft from your router (requires longer Ethernet cable, not included)
Wifi Connection setup
In order to configure a WiFi connection to the meter.base, you must first connect the device to either your phone or the local router. After the WiFi settings are configured, you may then unplug the device from your phone or router.
Option 1. a. Configure WiFi by connecting meter.base to your phone
1. Open the lid: Remove the lower hatch to expose the wiring ports in the device
2. Connect the cables: Thread the included Ethernet -> USB-C and power cables up through the bottom of the base and into the device ports
3. Connect the USB-C port to your phone and plug in the power adaptor to power the meter.base.
4. Log in to the meter.me Installer app and navigate to the water system where you'd like to add the meter.base
Select Add > Add meter.base
Enter the name of the meter.base and set the location
Scan the QR code on your meter.base
Select your Primary Network -> WiFi
Select Configure by -> Phone (USB-C)
Select Plug in USB-Ethernet and Check Status
Select Configure Wifi to view available networks
Select your WiFi network from the available list and enter the password, then select Join
Unplug the USB-Ethernet cable from your phone and Check Status
At this point, all steps should be marked Done, and you will need to hit Submit in the upper right corner to complete the meter.base setup.
5. Punch out the circle to allow the power cord to exit the device; Replace the lower cap and secure by screwing in the attached screw
6. Place device into base or use the included mounting plate to mount it on a wall or post.
You will want your meter.base to be raised as much as possible (on a cabinet or desk is better than on the floor) and as free from obstructions as possible (closing it inside a cabinet will reduce the coverage radius).
