The following questions should be considered before proceeding with the beta deployment of pump and valve control and/or automation with meter.me.
Due to the inherent latency in the LoRaWAN network, meter.me control operates with a built-in latency that could result in control commands being delayed up to several minutes from the time the command is sent until the time the operation is completed. Control and automation must be set up with an understanding of that inherent latency.
- Is adequate redundant network coverage (meter.base signal) available?
- What are the consequences if things fail? (damage, bodily injury, death) - must consider both potential scenarios:
- Consequences if a command to start/open is not received
- Consequences if a command to stop/close is not received
- What fail-safe or mitigation efforts are in place? (Examples: pumpsaver, pressure relief valve, meter.me alert settings, etc)
- What is the distance/length of time for someone to intervene in case of an emergency?
